Rainy Day Blues

Pink Rain
Rainy days. Oh, it’s that time of the year again.

Don’t you just love to curl up in bed, hide under the blanket, snuggle your favorite pillow with lights off and just the lamp turned on, while you try to concentrate on the dream you had the night before that you wish to have a part 2 of?

That’s the usual scenario for singles. But for the happily attached, just replace the pillow with your significant other and just act out the dream I was referring to, whatever that may be. ^^,

I love rainy days. Well, let me rephrase that. I ONLY love rainy days when I don’t have to go to work and can just linger in bed all day. But it can also leave me melancholic, as it lets me confront a certain feeling that hits me hard sometimes.

It’s a lazy, gloomy season and it is best spent alone, while contemplating and reminiscing. In my case, that is.

Forgive me for being too sentimental. It’s a part of me that I absolutely can do nothing about. So, sue me! ^^, These songs keep me company in times like this. They keep me warm when nothing or no one else can.

Hit PLAY and tell me which one you think is the best rainy day song. :)

Wherever You Are
~South Border~

I love to see the ocean’s beauty
and the moon that shines above
alone in the sand looking at the stars
wishing someday I will find true love
would it be nice to see the morning
with the one you love the most
would it be nice to say goodnight
to the one you hold so close to your heart,
to your heart…

CHORUS:
the wind that blows the dove
is the wind that blows my love
hope it'll find its way to you
wherever you are

I love to sit in fields of green
looking deeply through the sky
watching birds as they flap by
hoping someday faith will bring me true love
would it be nice to hold someone
so dear and near your heart
would it be nice to hear those words
I love you from the one that you love,
that you love…

Repeat CHORUS 2x

I’d love to see myself one day
in the arms of someone
who will share her life with me selflessly
someday, you will find your way to me....
ohhhh yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeaaaaah

the wind that blows the dove
is the wind that blows my love
hope it'll find its way to you
wherever you are

the wind that blows the dove
is the wind that blows my love
hope it'll find its way to you
wherever you are

wherever you... are

Hi KCee,

Rain affects people in a variety of ways. It's not always reflection time or recollection moments, but I agree with you that on those instances of melancholy moods, it's nice to reflect.

For the farmers during the planting season - it is a welcome blessing, but not at harvest time. For the people of Bangladesh living near the coast - it evokes fear since global warming has raised water levels and has drowned out their farms permanently. This has driven many families to the urban areas to live in squalor. It has wrecked their lives. For students facing a difficult recitation or long quiz - it brings a wish for more with floods to boot. For parents with young kids in school, it gives anxiety as their child may get soaked and get sick. For those on the way home via public transport, it is an added burden to their already difficult lives.

Sorry, I never meant to RAIN on your post :-).
This is really a confusing world and people are affected differently by the same event. In any case, a song on any season, raining or not, that I find to be a perfect song (because its music and lyrics go around in circles) is "Windmills Of Your Mind", originally sung by Noel Harrison for the movie The Thomas Crown Affair - the original version starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.

That's my ten cents worth. Keep happy thoughts! :-) --Durano, done!

I hope this is not too off topic, but...

I have over 1000 photos that I would like bloggers to use free of charge.

See http://money-from-photos.blogspot.com/2008/08/free-photos-for-your-blog-or-web-site.html

I hope this is of some use to you at some point, and that the instructions are clear enough to follow.

Thanks!

I always look forward to your valuable comments, my friend.

Thank you for sharing what rainy days mean in diverse perspectives. Don’t worry about 'raining' on my post, you bring always bring a rain of information in your comments. ;-)

I remember singing "Windmills of Your Mind" when I was younger, and I love the movie The Thomas Crown Affair as well, but the one with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo on lead roles. Maybe I should watch the original version and compare. :)

@ Ria

Lucky for me when I visited Dubai, I didn’t experience 53 degrees! Thanks for the award, I’ll post it soon. I still have a lot of catching up to do with my tags. :( Take care!
